OVERVIEW

Kampnagel is a theatre in Hamburg with a focus on socio-political commentary in the arts. The productions they curate tend towards more leftist, more liberal, and more political pieces that critique society and culture—which makes the kind of work I get to work on with them something profoundly emotional. As a graphic designer there, I've been immersed in everything visual, from posters, to flyers, to advertising and marketing campaigns, to assisting productions build an identity and a visual language to support their artistic endeavours.

Image Trail by MilkyThemes

Practically, this project takes on equal parts print and digital. Since I'm embedded into the communications department, I need to straddle both a designer's and a marketer's role. Everything we produce needs to fit the values and CI of the theatre, but also support and augment the individual messaging of the artists we host. This requires an intimate balance of maintaining an identity that an audience will recognise, and bringing to life the visions of the theatre's artists.
